Supernatural 5.13
Feb. 7th, 2010 06:55 pmLast week's episode annoyed me, but this one was awesome.
- Loved Castiel calling Sam his friend, and later (supposedly) lying to Sam about the 'merit' of his demise.
- Loved Mary fighting, both alone and working together with her sons. Loved Sam & Dean teaching her angel-fighting stuff. Loved hunter!Dean interacting with clueless-but-determined!John. (He may not be a hunter, but he was a soldier, remember?)
- The parallels between Dean/Mary and Sam/John were really drawn into the forefront here, even though apparently both John and Dean can function as Michael's vessel and both Mary and Sam wanted a normal life growing up.
- Loved John's "Who the hell does that to a kid?", although Sam's catharsis/all-I-never-got-to-tell-my-Dad speech went on way too long.
- Dean telling Mary tidbits of what he remembers of his Mom made me tear up. The boys trying to convince her not to have children, though? Annoyed me no end. Stop it already with the sacrifices!
- Liked how once it appears Sam is dead/will die, Anna leaves the parents alone. No unnecessary violence!
- Liked that Dean (and the audience) finally got to meet Michael. The Cain&Abel bloodline crap tore at my patience, though, since it's just not credible. Also, once again, I get that this vessel-finding is not an easy business, and we didn't get to see any of them with older siblings, but what about all the other demonblood!children? All just an elaborate scheme to drive Sam insane? I git nothing.
- Angels sure have one-track-minds, all of them. In that, Lucifer and Michael are really not that different. The only points Michael gets from me is for 1)letting us meet him, 2) saving the day, and 3) taking John's and Mary's memories, because seriously, no way they could have been allowed to keep them.
- Loved dopey!Castiel at the end. Loved Dean calling the three of them "Team Free Will". Loved Sam stating "They say we'll say yes", making it about himself and Dean. Liked how it becomes unclearer, to me, at least, who in the event of circumstances would say yes first.
- It appears someone will way yes to someone to save someone. But we all knew that.
Loved Mary telling unborn!Dean "Angels are watching over you". Full-circle, even though it's bitter-sweet.
Next episode, please?
